Cradle to Cradle Planet Foundation (C2C Planet)

A new initiative to the C2C tree

The rapid developments in the Netherlands make it a necessity to start a permanent C2C-newschannel which follows C2C-projects in the Netherlands and - if successful - abroad. Such a C2C - Communication channel should be based on three pillars:

Journalism
By following journalistically the development of C2C -projects, we can try to overcome the fact that alibi-thinking or image-thinking becomes the goal of those projects and consultants of all sorts hijack parts of the initial ideas. To follow the projects journalistically with clear ethics will keep everybody focussed and the process transparent. Such a digital news channel consists of short professional reports and discussion forums where people can give suggestions or share their ideas. It should be completely independent and not related to companies or sponsors to make clear we are no consultants. Next to study-centres and university-programs this will mean a permanent critical eye and ear on C2C-developments in the Netherlands and abroad in direct cooperation with Michael Braungart, Albin KŠlin and William McDonough.

Marketplace and mediation
In the Netherlands and abroad there is a need for C2C information-exchange. Many companies want to participate but do not know how to start and how to continue. A C2C - Marketplace-community website, by which people and communities can participate and communicate, seems vital. Contact with and mediation by expert thinkers is essential for the success of the C2C development. Through this portal an exchange of ideas, suggestions and products will happen. Experience and product search functions should make the system a true marketplace for C2C-ideas.

Public information and education
The progress of any idea is defined by the acceptance in the society in general. In cooperation with the NEMO Science Center in Amsterdam this pillar will be worked out. Semi-permanent exhibitions in the Science Center, technical support and a platform to show the latest developments on C2C are the most important aspects. Where do we stand on C2C and what are the future possibilities? Ideally, through NEMO, it would be a reflection of the C2C-development of all the projects one can see in the Netherlands and abroad. This experience can be made available to any other country where C2C is taking off.

To realize such a channel in the first place strong support from the founding fathers of the C2C philosophy is essential. But this project will need initial financial support of different sides. Both public and private money is needed to work out the idea. With the financial support of SenterNovem the feasibility of this plan can be researched and thus see what is needed to continue and work out the idea for such a Cradle to Cradle Communication Channel.
